Join us in celebrating the 6th Annual Green Shanny Day on Friday, May 10, 2013! Green Shanny Day was developed in 2008 to honor the legacy of environmentalist Shannon Harps, who spent several years in Columbus, Ohio as a Sierra Club activist before moving to Seattle, Washington to continue her crusade to save our world. While working in Columbus, Ohio, Shannon organized a "Walk-to-work" day to encourage her fellow Ohioans to minimize their carbon footprint by walking, hiking, biking, riding the bus, and/or carpooling, even if only for a day, to positively impact our world. Last year over 300 people in Cleveland & Columbus, Ohio, Lehigh Acres, Florida, Hermosa Beach & Los Angeles, California, North Carolina, South Carolina, Colorado, Virginia, and Skaneateles, New York participated in this memorable event. We are hoping to inspire over 600 individuals to lace up their tennis shoes, jump on their bikes, hop on a bus, or pick up their friends in honor of Shannon Harps this year.
